Before Brilliant Realty existed, I was a solo REALTOR® trying to find the right brokerage to build my business with.
I wasn't looking for anything unreasonable. I wanted a brokerage that provided strong support when I needed it, modern technology, professional marketing and branding, useful resources, and the freedom to build a business that was actually mine.
What I found was that I usually had to choose between two very different types of brokerages.
On one side were the large brokerages. They had recognizable names, offices, systems and infrastructure, but that often came with significant monthly fees and other costs. More importantly, I found that being part of a large organization didn't necessarily mean I received the personal support I was looking for.
When I had an important question about a transaction, I didn't want to feel like another number. I wanted to know that someone knowledgeable was available, understood the situation and genuinely cared about helping me get it right.
On the other side were smaller, lower-cost brokerages.
The economics could be attractive, but I often found another problem. Keeping fees low sometimes meant there was less investment in the things I believed a modern REALTOR® needed to compete: technology, marketing, professional branding, training, systems and resources.
I didn't want to choose between affordability and support.
I didn't want to choose between independence and infrastructure.
And I didn't think REALTORS® should have to.
That frustration eventually became the idea behind Brilliant Realty.
I wanted to build the brokerage I had been searching for.
Brilliant Realty was created to combine the advantages of both models while leaving behind many of their disadvantages. I wanted the accessibility and personal relationships of a smaller independent brokerage, combined with the technology, marketing, branding, training and resources you would expect from a much larger organization.
And I wanted to do it without creating an unnecessarily expensive place for REALTORS® to hang their licences and build their businesses.
That philosophy still guides Brilliant Realty today.
We invest in technology because our REALTORS® should have modern tools available to them. We invest in marketing and professional branding because presentation matters. We invest in training and resources because real estate professionals should have opportunities to keep developing their knowledge and skills.
Most importantly, we invest in support.
As Broker, I believe that when an associate has an important question about a transaction, they should be able to reach someone who can actually help them. Brilliant Realty was deliberately built around direct broker accessibility rather than layers of management separating associates from the person responsible for supporting them.
At the same time, I believe REALTORS® are independent professionals building their own businesses. A brokerage should provide the foundation, resources and support to help them succeed without unnecessarily controlling the identity they are trying to create.
That's why Brilliant Realty gives our associates room to develop their own brands, marketing strategies and businesses while still having the backing of a professional Alberta real estate brokerage.
Today, Brilliant Realty has grown beyond the brokerage I originally needed as a solo REALTOR®.
It has become a growing community of real estate professionals serving Calgary, Edmonton and communities throughout Alberta. Our associates have different backgrounds, different business models, different levels of experience and different goals, but the idea behind the brokerage remains the same.
You shouldn't have to choose between a brokerage that's affordable and one that invests in you.
You shouldn't have to choose between independence and support.
You shouldn't have to choose between keeping more of what you earn and having access to professional technology, marketing, branding, training and resources.
I couldn't find the brokerage I wanted to be part of.
So I built it.
That's Brilliant Realty.
